Yuri Collins Earns A-10 Weekly Nod

by Brian Kunderman

Yuri Collins earned his second Atlantic 10 Conference weekly award of the season today when he was named the A-10’s co-Player of the Week. Collins shares the honor with Richmond’s Tyler Burton.

Collins helped the Billikens to a pair of victories last week against George Mason (92-90 in double OT) and Dayton (72-61). In the two games, Collins averaged 25.5 points, 9.5 assists, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals. He shot 50 percent from both the field (15-30) and 3-point range (5-10) while connecting on an impressive 16-of-17 from the charity stripe.

Against George Mason on Wednesday, Collins scored a career-high 35 points and added 13 assists for his fourth straight double-double. He also posted five rebounds and five steals. Collins converted the game-winning running floater as time expired in double overtime to lift the Billikens to the thrilling victory in Fairfax, Virginia.

Collins scored 16 points, grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds and dished out six assists in the Billikens’ win Saturday against Dayton.

For the year, Collins continues to lead the NCAA in total assists (186) and assists per game (8.5). He is 15th in the NCAA with 49 total steals. Collins averages 11.6 points and 4.4 rebounds for the season.

The Billikens are in action Tuesday when they take on the La Salle Explorers in Philadelphia. Game time is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
