The St. Louis SLAM women’s tackle football franchise has a direct missive for their 2020 campaign within their social media platforms.
It reads, “#DRIVEFOR5”.

For the current defending Division 2 champions of the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA), the declaration states that the squad seeks a fifth national title.
This was pushed heavily this week as the team revealed their upcoming schedule that begins the first week of April.
The SLAM, who claimed their third WFA Division 2 trophy last July (their fourth overall) and finished 11-0, have an eight-game regular-season docket that features match-ups against familiar foes as well as some tussles with Division 1 squads, which includes a home meeting with the defending D1 national champion in a rare “champ vs. champ” scenario.

The season begins with an April 4 home meeting with rival Minnesota Vixen, who has been an entrant in the last few cycles of the WFA Division 2 post-season.
A pair of road trips follows as the SLAM meets Arlington Impact, a Texan Division 1 post-season competitor, on April 18 and Derby City Dynamite, a Division 3 post-season entrant from Louisville, Kentucky, on April 25.
The SLAM hosts Columbus Vanguards, a WFA Division 3 team that went two rounds deep in last year’s playoffs, on May 2.

The team returns the favor to the aforementioned Vixen for a road game on May 9.
The SLAM then hosts two back-to-back home contests that will provide excitement. A May 16 meeting with Pittsburgh Passion, who reached the second round of the D2 playoffs last year is slotted.
The home finale sees the SLAM facing the WFA Division 1 defending champion Boston Renegades on May 30. The Renegades finished 2019 with a 10-0 record and the tussle with the SLAM, who also finished last year undefeated, will be watched by many.
The SLAM concludes their regular season with a June 6 road game across I-70 to meet the Kansas City Lady Saints, a newly-minted team.
A home venue for the SLAM is still pending as of press time.
