Rascals Tee-Off On Wild Things, Win 14-3

WASHINGTON, PA–One night after suffering their worst offensive output of the season, the Rascals’ bats erupted for a season-high 14 runs and 20 hits to beat the Washington Wild Things 14-3 in the middle game of their series on Saturday night from Wild Things Park. All nine Rascals in the lineup recorded at least one hit, with Trevor Achenbach leading the way with five, to go along with four RBIs. Mike Jurgella also had four RBIs for the Rascals.

The Rascals scored early on an RBI single in the first inning from Kronenfeld, and got an RBI triple from Achenbach in the second. An RBI double from Zach Lavy put them in front 3-0 in the fifth, and they added three more in the sixth, on a two-run double from Clint Freeman and an RBI single from Jurgella.

The Rascals tacked on five in the eighth, on a two-run single from Achenbach and a two-run double from Jurgella, along with a sacrifice fly from JD Hearn. Hearn and Achenbach also had run-scoring singles in the ninth.

The Wild Things got an RBI single from James Harris in the fifth and a two-run homer from Reydel Medina in the eighth.

Rascals starter Josh Kimborowicz (4-4) went 7 1/3 innings, allowing three runs and striking out three. Washington starter Levi MaVorhis (1-1) allowed three runs in five innings. The Wild Things bullpen combined to allow 11 earned runs in four innings.

The Rascals (38-34) and Wild Things (39-32) play the rubbermatch of their series tommorrow night, with first pitch scheduled for 5:35 pm ET, 4:35 pm CT. Dalton Roach will make the start for the Rascals.
