Molina, Wacha, Rosenthal Named to All-Star Reserves; Martinez to Final Vote

A day after Matt Holliday and Jhonny Peralta were named as starters to the 2015 National League All-Star team, the MLB has announced the All-Star Reserves. While the starters were voted by the fans, the reserves are made up of a mix selected by the players and the managers.

Yadier Molina has been named to the 2015 All-Star game, selected by the players. For Molina, this is his 7th All-Star game. Molina is slashing .292/.333/.373 with two home runs and 27 RBI. However, Molina is mostly known for his defensive expertise. Much of his value comes in statistics that cannot be measured or difficult to understand. However, with the players voting him into the game it is clear he is one of the most respected players across Major League Baseball.

Michael Wacha was also named for his 1st All-Star game. Wacha has been credited with leading the staff, having a 10 win season. Along with the 10 wins comes a 2.66 ERA, 1.086 WHIP and 80 strikeouts over 101.1 innings pitched.

Trevor Rosenthal, enjoying his best season in his career and leading all relief pitchers with a 0.70 ERA was also selected to his 1st All-Star game. Rosenthal has 24 saves with 42 strikeouts over 38.1 innings.

Carlos Matinez will be part of the  National League Final Vote Candidates. Included on that list are Johnny Cueto, Jeurys Familia, Clayton Kershaw and Troy Tulowitzki. The Final Vote Candidate are selected by fan votes.
