The Cardinals have claimed former first-round pick and Top 100 Prospect, Gary Brown. Brown was designated for assignment earlier in the week by the Giants.
Brown was supposed to be a headline-prospect in centerfield for the Giants, but his career has never taken off the in the minor leagues. Brown is 26 and has batted .277/.342/.415 since 2010 across many levels of minor league ball. In 2011 at San Jose, Brown slugged 14 home runs and stole 53 bases. Last season he batted .271 with 36 stolen bases, but was caught stealing 20 times as Fresno.
