After 16 years in the Majors, Kyle Lohse seems to have announced his retirement via Instagram.
It’s been a hell of a ride! Baseball, you’ve taken me a lot of places I’ve never thought or even dreamed of. The highs. The lows. The people I’ve met. The teammates I’ve had the pleasure of battling alongside. The guys on the other teams I’ve had the pleasure of battling against. Time to take it to the house knowing I gave it all I had each and every time.

He compiled a 147-143 record with a 4.40 ERA over his career. Of his 16 seasons, 5 were spent in St. Louis, where he was 55-35 with a 3.90 ERA. His best season in the Majors was in 2012 with the Cardinals where he was 16-3 with a 2.86 ERA and finished 7th in the Cy Young voting.
He also spent time with the Minnesota Twins, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, and most recently the Texas Rangers in his Major League career. He recently attempted a comeback, signing a Minor League deal with the Kansas City Royals only a few weeks ago. He was released after having struggles in the KC Minor League system, which led him to announce his Retirement.
When healthy he was a workhorse, having 10 seasons with more than 170 Innings including 3 seasons with over 200 innings. He played arguably his best baseball while he was in St. Louis and Cardinal Nation certainly remembers what he did for our organization.
Thank you Kyle and happy retirement!
