It’s an absolutely beautiful night at St.Louis Music Park and we have gathered for THE MYSTICAL MAGICAL RHYTHMICAL RADICAL RIDE of Summer 2024!
The opener was a little stiff so I was concerned how the rest of the show would play out. Turns out, Gregory Page was the most fantastic and magical of openers. A rich history of music runs deep within his cardboard fluted layers. His mother and father both established musicians in their time. The music reflects a deep folksy yet psychedelic quality that comforts your soul. A singular cardboard cutout stood stage right with his Diet Coke and pizza and truly made me the happiest girl in all the land. After the departure of Flat Gregory, Jason Mraz himself came out to greet the crowd with a personalized introduction of the second opener, Molly Miller Trio.
Molly Miller Trio can be described as a very laid back and retro surfboard rock band. Three people, three instruments with a sound so full and well orchestrated. They’re not here to open a show, they are here to bring down the house. She brings her guitar to life with bubbly yet commanding licks on that Gibson hollow body. With songs from her new endeavor The Ballad of Hotspur, covers from bands who’ve inspired them and a few songs from albums past, they are definitely a must on any playlist! The vibes are real and the music is perfect for front porch sitting in the early morning while drinking your coffee taking in how beautiful the world is. Molly Miller Trio can only be summed up with the words tranquillizing and serene. Bravo and thank you for such a mesmerizing experience.
Jason Mraz. Thank you. The world needed a happy place, and you took us there by the power of same cord island. The energy is contagious and the crowd synced up in vibes quickly as his island summer remixes to all of his music spread quicker than a virus. We sang, we danced, we breathed (and inhaled and inhaled and inhaled) and we all lived our best lives. Jason is quite the entertainer and comedian but holy shit can this man SING! His jazzy scats, the sharp horns, the smooth guitars. What a welcomed overstimulation of joy and good vibes. He Rick Rolled us on his song Lucky. Colbie Caillat didn’t show up.
The song went beautifully. Nature contributed with the perfect thunder roll during the opening of 93 Million Miles. His set was strong but his positivity was a strong-arm throughout the entire evening.
This tour is a must see regardless if you know one or all of his songs. He’s an amazing entertainer, one of my favs on tik tok but has always been my jazzy staple in life. I can’t be mad. I can’t be sad. I can only be happy and thankful that Jason Mraz hasn’t given up on us and we’re forever yours. If you think you’ve seen it all, you haven’t until you see Jason and The Superband live.

Melissa O’Rourke aka WickedWitchofSTL is a jack of all trades. By day she’s an established tattooist and piercer, by night a mother to her amazing son (who is a hell of a guitarist).
