Forward Max Pikaar (Leiden, Netherlands) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Saint Louis University and play basketball for the Billikens, SLU head coach Josh Schertz announced today. Pikaar begins his four years of eligibility in the 2024-25 season.
“We are so excited to add Max to our program as he is such a great fit in every way on and off the court,” Schertz said. “Max is a worker, a great teammate, unselfish and incredibly competitive. On the court, he’s a true unicorn at 6-11 with the ability to handle, pass and shoot at the highest of levels. Defensively, he will be able to guard the one through five positions as he has great feet and instincts. His combination of talent, work ethic and humility is truly rare. We can’t wait to work with Max on reaching his enormous potential.”
Jack Godar on Twitter: “SLU gets its first commitment of the Josh Schertz era! Max Pikaar is a Dutch forward who is very skilled. High upside big man who was also being recruited by Penn State and St. Bonaventure, among others. Great way to start a Saturday! https://t.co/AU9W8JaYy1 / Twitter”

Pikaar is the first recruit signed at SLU by Schertz. He joins the Billiken roster for next year that currently includes returning players Larry Hughes II, Gibson Jimerson and Kellen Thames.
