Saint Louis freshman guard Djordje Curcic suffered a broken foot in the second half of Wednesday’s game against Richmond and is out for the remainder of the season.
Curcic will undergo surgery in St. Louis and will be under the care of Dr. Scott Kaar of SSM Health, the Billikens’ longtime head physician and orthopedic specialist.
“We feel terribly for Djordje,” SLU head coach Travis Ford said. “He was playing his best basketball of the season. I know he will rehab very hard and come back better than ever, and we will give him all the support that he needs.”
Curcic, who appeared in 18 games this year, had a career-best nine points on three 3-pointers in the win against George Washington. Curcic drilled a trey in each of the last three games and was a key contributor off the bench as the Billikens were already light in guard play due to injuries to Sincere Parker and Michael Meadows Jr.
SLU returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Kingston, R.I., to take on the Rhode Island Rams. Game time on CBS Sports Network and KFTK 97.1 FM is 3 p.m. (CT).
