The CITY Block Party is back! St. Louis native and rapper Smino will headline St. Louis CITY SC’s first free CITY Block Party of the 2024 season on Saturday, Feb. 24 at CITYPARK’s Lou Fusz Plaza, ahead of the club’s Major League Soccer home opener that evening vs. Real Salt Lake. Local musicians Bo Dean and DJ Sol will kick off the block party festivities.
“Smino is one of the hottest rising music stars of today, and we can’t wait to see him rock our plaza as we commence year two of CITY SC and celebrate the start of our MLS season,” said Matt Sebek, St. Louis CITY SC’s Chief Experience Officer. “We are thrilled to bring back our CITY Block Party free concert series, which has become a beloved pre-match tradition for many of our fans and supporters.”
“I always luv coming back to the krib and performing in front of my hometown crowd,” said Smino. “St. Louis always shows up. I can’t wait to turn up for my CITY and CITY SC and perform a new surprise song for the fans.”
Additionally, this season, CITY SC and Smino will collaborate on a new program to amplify and support emerging local artists representing various musical genres. More details about this collaboration will be revealed soon.
The pre-match CITY Block Parties unite fans of all ages in celebration of soccer, music, food and culture. February 24th’s CITY Block Party will begin at 4 p.m. on Lou Fusz Plaza and is free to attend (no tickets are required) and open to the public. It also will feature food and drinks, games, giveaways and more. A free Watch Party on the plaza will follow for fans without a ticket to the match to gather and catch CITY SC take on Real Salt Lake on the big screen, as chants and cheers roar from inside CITYPARK.
During CITY SC’s inaugural season, the CITY Block Party brought tens of thousands of fans from across the region together and hosted over 20 artists last year, most of them local, including St. Louis’ own Metro Boomin as well as nationally known artists Anderson .Paak, Ava Max and Gin Blossoms.
