St. Louis CITY SC acquired Danish left back Nikolas Dyhr for an undisclosed transfer fee from current Danish Superliga leaders FC Midtjylland, pending a P-1 Visa and International Trade Certificate (ITC). Dyhr signed a three-year deal with a club option for 2027.

“We are excited to add Nikolas to our backline,” said Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel. “At just 22, he has won titles at both the youth and senior level in Denmark and has gained valuable experience in Europa and Champions League competitions. His ability to man the left-side of the field in the defensive third and final third will be key in our style of play.”

The Horsens, Denmark, native played the majority of his club matches for FC Midtjylland, Denmark’s multi-Superliga champion, Champions League participant and Europa League participant. He helped lead his squad to one regular-season title (Danish Champion) and two cup titles (Danish Cup Winner). In 103 matches for FC Midtjylland, he has recorded three goals and eight assists, including his first senior professional goal during the 2021-22 Europa League competition.

For country, Dyhr began at the Under-16 team for Denmark and quickly made an impression. He made 10 appearances and tallied one goal at the U-16 level before he was called into the U-17 squad for the 2017-18 UEFA European U-17 Championship qualifiers. Dyhr helped anchor a U-17 Denmark backline to three clean sheets and a 4-1-1 record in the qualifiers before tallying a goal in the Group Stage. He tallied 14 appearances between the U-18 and U-19 squads before reaching the Under-21 level.

At the U-21 team, Dyhr started two matches during the 2021-22 UEFA European U-21 Championship qualifiers, finishing with a 1-0-1 mark. Despite not starting in the second leg of the Playoff against U-21 Croatia, he came into the match for penalty kicks and converted the first one of the PK round.
