Cardinals Announce 2024 Regular Season Schedule

by St. Louis Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals, in conjunction with Major League Baseball’s league-wide release, today announced its 2024 regular season schedule.  The Season Opener is scheduled for Thursday, March 28, at Los Angeles as part of a seven-game West Coast road trip featuring four games with the Dodgers (March 28-31) and three games against the San Diego Padres (April 1-3).  It will be the first time the club opens the season with the Dodgers since 1998 and the first Cardinals Opening Day game at Dodger Stadium since 1984.

The Cardinals will host their 2024 Home Opener against Miami on Thursday, April 4, as part of a six-game homestand with the Marlins (April 4, 6-7) and the Philadelphia Phillies (April 8-10).  Miami is one of only three National League teams St. Louis has never hosted at Busch Stadium for its Home Opener (Arizona & Washington).

For the second consecutive year, the Cardinals will host a regular season “home” game outside of St. Louis when they take on the San Francisco Giants as part of a Major League Baseball Special Event Game at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama on Thursday, June 20.  The club will close the season on the road for just the third time since 2015 when they travel to Colorado and San Francisco from September 24-29.

As part of MLB’s balanced schedule, the Cardinals will host eight American League opponents with seven three-game home series and a pair of two-game home-and-home series with geographic rival Kansas City (July 9-10 at Busch Stadium & August 9-10 at Kauffman Stadium).  St. Louis will host the Chicago White Sox (May 3-5), Boston Red Sox (May 17-19), Baltimore Orioles (May 20-22), Texas Rangers (July 29-31), Tampa Bay Rays (August 6-8), Seattle Mariners (Sept. 6-8), and Cleveland Guardians (Sept. 20-22).  It will mark Boston’s first visit to Busch Stadium since 2017, Seattle’s first visit since 2013, and Baltimore’s second visit since 2003 (visited for three games in 2022).

The Cardinals will face their four National League Central division opponents 13 times each—two series versus each opponent both at home and on the road—for a total of 52 games.  Busch Stadium will host Chicago for two weekend series leading into Memorial Day on May 24-26 & leading into the All-Star Break on July 12-14; Cincinnati on June 27-30 & Sept. 10-12; Milwaukee on April 19-21 & August 20-22; and Pittsburgh on June 11-13 & Sept. 16-19.

The Cardinals are scheduled to play 49 of their 81 home games before the July 15-18 All-Star Break, playing 12 home games in March/April, 15 home games in May, 17 home games in June (including the home date in Birmingham), 11 home games in July, 13 home games in August, and 13 home games in September.  The club is not scheduled to host any holiday games at Busch Stadium in 2024.

The Cardinals longest homestand of the 2024 campaign consists of two separate nine-game homestands from May 17-26 (Boston, Baltimore, Chicago Cubs) and June 22-30 (San Francisco, Atlanta, Cincinnati).  Their longest road trip of the season comes on May 27-June 5, where they will play nine games in 10 days games against Cincinnati, Philadelphia, and Houston.  The team has a stretch that will see them play 16 straight days beginning on August 20 through September 4.

The Cardinals will make future announcements regarding game times, ticket pricing and ticket availability for the 2024 season.  The complete 2024 regular season schedule follows below and can be viewed at cardinals.com/schedule.
