St. Louis: St. Louis Cardinals 3rd baseman Mike Shanon has established himself at 3rd base, in his 2nd season at that spot, and has returned to his old form at that plat, leading the team in home runs with 13 as of mid-July. A converted outfielder, Shannon got off to a shaky start holding down the hot corner, but he came through in great fashion to help the Cardinals win the World Series in 1967, in his first year at that position. Shannon now feels at home at 3rd base and his hitting has picked up to a .279 with 13 homer, and 51 runs batted in as of July 22, 1968.

Which Redbird players were the best at each position and which ones made it to the Hall of Fame? Can you name their lone Triple Crown winner or the team’s MVPs? What are the “Perfectos” and who’s in the “Gashouse Gang?” It’s a story over 140 years in the making that will simply make Redbird fans of all ages “Go Crazy” for Cardinal baseball!
