MEMPHIS, TN – The Memphis Redbirds extended the longest win streak of the Minor League Baseball season to 12 games with an 7-2 win over Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon at AutoZone Park.
Starting pitcher Gordon Graceffo (1-1) was excellent in his fourth start of the season and posted his first Triple-A quality start. The right-handed pitcher tossed a season-high 6.0 innings, allowed two runs on five hits, walked one and tied a season high with six strikeouts.
After falling behind 2-0 in the fourth, catcher Tres Barrera drilled a go-ahead homerun with two on and two out in the inning. Memphis added another later in the frame on a second baseman Juniel Querecuto RBI double. Querecuto later padded the lead even further with a two-run shot in the sixth inning.
In relief, Andre Pallante made his first appearance with Memphis. The right-handed pitcher tossed two innings, struck out thre and did not allow a baserunner. Kodi Whitley rolled a double play to end the game with a scoreless ninth.
The Redbirds (15-5) return to AutoZone Park on Sunday April 23 to take on the Indianapolis Indians at 2:05 p.m. to conclude a six-game homestand. Sunday’s game is Take a Chance Day and Prairie Farms Ice Cream Sunday. You can find more information on upcoming promotions at AutoZone Park here.
