Saint Louis received double-doubles from Yuri Collins, Francis Okoro and Javon Pickett in an 83-65 victory over Evansville Saturday night at Chaifetz Arena.
The Billikens improve to 2-0 heading into a showdown against Memphis Tuesday at Chaifetz Arena. Evansville falls to 1-1.
Gibson Jimerson led the Billikens in scoring on Saturday with 18 points, thanks in part to five 3-pointers.
Collins finished with 10+ assists for the second-straight game, dishing out 13 assists while contributing 12 points. Okoro had 16 points, 12 rebounds, a career-high three assists and two blocked shots. Pickett had his second-straight double-double with 11 points and a career-high-tying 13 boards.
Javonte Perkins scored in double figures for the second-straight contest, pumping in 13 points with three treys.
The Billikens raced out to a double-digit lead midway through the first half and led by as many as 14 at one point in the first half before Evansville rallied to take a 39-37 lead into intermission.
SLU utilized a strong second half to cruise to the win. The Billikens hit seven treys in the second stanza and did not allow Evansville to hit a 3-pointer after it drained six in the opening half. A 14-0 run by the Billikens put the game out of reach for Evansville.
The Billikens host Memphis Tuesday night in an 8 p.m. tip at Chaifetz Arena. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
