St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the team has recalled forwards Josh Leivo and Jake Neighbours from the Blues’ AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds.
Leivo, 29, was signed by the Blues as a free agent on July 14, 2022. The Innisfil, Ontario, native played seven games with the Carolina Hurricanes last season, scoring one goal and adding two assists. Leivo also posted 46 points (22 goals, 24 assists) in 54 games with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL last season. He also led them to the Calder Cup Championship, posting 29 points (15 goals, 14 assists) in 18 playoff games, winning the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy, which is awarded to the AHL Playoffs MVP.
Neighbours, 20, was drafted by the Blues in the first round (No. 26 overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft. The Calgary, Alberta, native played nine games with the Blues last season, scoring one goal and adding one assist. Neighbours also posted 45 points (17 goals, 28 assists) in 30 games with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL last season, as well as 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) in 19 playoff games.
