The O’Fallon Hoots, proud members of the Prospect League, announced the hiring of Bailey Vuylsteke as the team’s Manager for the 2023 summer season. Vuylsteke comes to O’Fallon after holding the same position for the Prospect League’s Quincy Gems in 2021.
“I am excited to have Bailey as the new Hoots manager,” Hoots General Manager David Schmoll said. “Bailey has been a coach in the Prospect League before, something we were looking for in our next Manager. In our conversations, he understands and believes in what we’re building here in O’Fallon. I’m looking forward to him leading our team back to the top of our division and bringing a championship to O’Fallon.”
Vuylsteke echoed Schmoll’s excitement.
“I cannot wait to get started in O’Fallon,” Vuylsteke said. “When David called to offer me the position, there was no hesitation. This is where I wanted to coach this summer and I’m ready to be a part of this program.”
Vuylsteke is an Oakville High School graduate who pitched collegiately at Jefferson College in Hillsboro and Miami (OH). After his playing career ended, the left-handed pitcher coached collegiately at Western Iowa Community College before joining the coaching staff at Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville (SIUE) as the Volunteer Assistant this fall. Vuylsteke started off the 2021 Prospect League season as an assistant coach for the Quincy Gems before taking over as head coach midway through the season.
