Saint Louis and VCU battled to a scoreless draw Saturday night in Atlantic 10 Conference men’s soccer action at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.
The Billikens move to 3-3-1 overall and 1-0-1 in A-10 play. VCU is now 0-4-4 overall and 0-0-2 in league play.
A Saint Louis University Homecoming & Family Weekend crowd of 5,762 were in attendance at Hermann Stadium, the third-largest crowd in the NCAA this season.
Saint Louis’ Seth Anderson had the best scoring chance of the night late in the second half. He raced into the box and came face-to-face with VCU keeper John Ermini, who was up the task as he got his left glove on Anderson’s shot and deflected it away.
Billiken keeper Carlos Tofern was effective also on the other end. He made six saves for SLU’s first shutout of the season.
Saint Louis outshot the Rams 15-12 and had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Bills return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 27, when they entertain the Marquette Golden Eagles at Hermann Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m.
