Saint Louis seniors John Klein and Alberto Suarez earned honors today after helping the Billikens to a victory at No. 7 Creighton last Friday.
Klein was tabbed the Atlantic 10 Conference co-Offensive of the Week. Suarez earned A-10 Defensive Player of the Week honors and National Team of the Week honors from Top Drawer Soccer.
Klein played a part in two crucial goals in the win at Creighton. He scored the go-ahead goal in the 31 minute to put the Billikens 2-1. Later, Klein earned an assist on the game-winner. Klein now has 23 goals and 23 assists for 69 points in his career.
Suarez put home the eventual game-winning goal at Creighton early in the second half. It was the first goal of his SLU career and the 21st of his collegiate career. Suarez has played every minute on the Billikens’ back line so far this season.
SLU is No. 17 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll and is the first team “receiving votes” in the College Soccer News poll. The United Soccer Coaches poll is slated to be released later today.
