by St. Louis Ambush

The St. Louis Ambush conclude their 2021-22 regular season with two games against the rival Kansas City Comets this weekend.

On Saturday, April 2, the Comets invade The Family Arena for the home finale with the first kick slated for 7:05 p.m. CDT. Action then shifts across the state for a rematch less than 24 hours later when the two teams butt heads again at 4:00 p.m. CDT on Sunday, April 3 at the Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence.

The Ambush are in the hunt for a playoff berth in a down-to-the wire finish to the season between the Ambush, Milwaukee Wave and Ontario Fury. Two of those three teams will earn a playoff berth and one will go home when the dust settles on the regular season Sunday afternoon.

Ahead of the weekend series, the Ambush added two veteran players to their active roster this week. Defender Chris Mattingly played four seasons in the PASL prior to joining the Ambush for their inaugural season in 2013. He became a fixture during his six seasons with the team and last played in 2019. Mattingly became one of the top defenders in the MASL, ranking in the top two in the league in blocked opponent shots three different times. In 74 career games with the Ambush, Chris tallied seven goals, 11 assists and blocked 124 opponent shots.

Defender Axel Duarte spent parts of five seasons with the Ambush from 2014 to 2021. In 63 career games with the Ambush, he posted seven goals, eight assists and blocked 87 opponent shots.

“Both Chris and Axel know the indoor game and we’re counting on their veteran leadership and experience to help us earn a playoff spot this weekend,” said Ambush GM and Interim Head Coach Jeff Locker.

The Ambush will also hold a blood drive with the American Red Cross on Thursday, April 7 from 10:00 a.m.  to 4:00 p.m. at The Family Arena. You can register here.
