Blues trade Gillies to New Jersey

by Press Release

The St. Louis Blues traded goaltender Jon Gillies to the New Jersey Devils for future considerations on Wednesday.

Gillies, 27, was signed to a one-year, two-way contract last week because Jordan Binnington was in COVID-19 protocols and Ville Husso sustained a lower-body injury.

Gillies became the fifth goalie to play for the Blues this season when he started Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks. Gillies made 36 saves in a 3-2 overtime loss.

Binnington has been cleared from COVID-19 protocols and will be eligible to rejoin the team for practice on Thursday. Binnington has missed seven games while in protocol.
