Saint Louis will take on North Carolina State at Chaifetz Arena on Thursday, Dec. 17, the teams announced today. The agreement also includes a game between the Billikens and Wolfpack in Raleigh, N.C., during the 2022-23 season.
The Billikens have sought to add an opponent to their nonconference schedule, and the search intensified this week as their Dec. 12 game against Evansville was canceled due to COVID-19 issues within the Purple Aces’ program.
SLU, which is 4-0 and on the cusp of the AP Top 25, has a busy week ahead with three games in six days beginning with tonight’s matchup against Indiana State. After Thursday’s game against NC State, the Billikens travel to Minnesota to take on the Golden Gophers Sunday night.
NC State is 3-0 and has had five games either canceled or postponed. The Wolfpack are coming off their own pause in basketball activities, which was announced Dec. 9 due to two members of their travel party testing positive for COVID-19. NC State hasn’t played since Dec. 3.
This will be the second meeting between the Billikens and Wolfpack. SLU defeated NC State in the first round of the 2014 NCAA Championship, rallying from 16 down with eight minutes to play to win 83-80 in overtime in Orlando.
The game is currently scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip. Media coverage will be announced as soon as possible.
