Taylor Russolino spent five weeks bringing joy to St. Louis BattleHawks fans by kicking field goals and going for 9/10 on the 2020 season. He nailed the longest field goal in XFL history by banging a 58 yarder during the BattleHawks first ever home game in a 29-9 victory over the New York Guardians on February 23, 2020. Russolino made his case as the best kicker in the XFL and now with the XFL season unfortunately cancelled due to COVID19, he looks to hopefully get a chance with an NFL team this coming fall. In the meantime, Russolino has started a GoFundMe page to help fund medical supplies, meals, and coffee to healthcare workers.
So far, $1,406 has been raised of a $20,000 goal. The proceeds will go to three different beneficiaries, including SSM Health St. Louis, UCI Medical Center in Orange, California where Russolino’s fiancé is an RN, and in New Orleans where Russolino is from. The bio on the GoFundMe page written by Russolino reads as such:
“Dear Good People, Family, Friends, My name is Taylor Russolino; my fiancé, Gabrielle Marie Ganci, RN is one of the heroes working on the front lines along with thousands of others across the globe. You have seen the pictures and heard the stories of the doctors, nurses, janitorial staff and countless other healthcare workers laboring to help, prevent, and treat this horrific pandemic that has overtaken the world. While we sit and wait, they continue to walk into days and nights of uncertainties and sacrifice to treat our love ones and those in need. My beautiful fiancé, who I will hopefully still be marrying on May 23, is a Nurse at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center. Each day the stories of compassion, sorrow, and courage continue to pour out of the medical community. My heart is split three ways- From my hometown of New Orleans, that is feeling the fallout far worse than many, to my fiancé and her coworkers at UCI Medical Center in my current home, and finally to all of those at SSM Health St. Louis University in my recently adopted home of St. Louis. I would love to find a way to spread some good will. Being a New Orleans native, I know better than most how a good meal can lift your spirits. Any funds that are raised will be split equally between the 3 cities that are closest to my heart. ANY LITTLE BIT would be such a kind gesture! All proceeds will go directly to nutritious catered meals, coffee and/or medical supplies split between those in New Orleans, California, and St. Louis! I wish nothing but the best of health to everyone out there! Remember to stay strong, stay home, do the right thing! Be thankful and remain positive! WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS! PLEASE DONATE WHAT YOU CAN! Anything HELPS! God Bless.”
