XFL fans have selected Cam Phillips, wide receiver for the Houston Roughnecks, as the Week 2 XFL Star Of The Week. Phillips garnered over 60 percent of votes (19,000 total) on Twitter at @XFL2020 during the 24-hour voting window.
In the Roughnecks’ 28-24 victory over the St. Louis BattleHawks, the team’s second victory in as many games, Phillips made eight catches for 63 yards and three touchdowns. The Charlotte, NC native averaged 7.9 yards per catch and now leads the XFL with four touchdown receptions.
Each week during the season, the XFL is giving fans the power to name the league’s top performer by voting for the XFL Star Of The Week. On Saturday and Sunday, after each day’s games, one key player from each team will be nominated by XFL Football Operations and the selected players will be posted on the XFL Twitter account @XFL2020. Fans then will have 24 hours to vote on their top player from each day.
The players with the most votes from each day will advance to the final round on Monday, when fans can vote on Twitter to determine the winner. The XFL Star Of The Week is the league’s top weekly individual honor.
In Week 3 Saturday action, the Roughnecks visit the Tampa Bay Vipers at 2 p.m., ET, on ABC and the Seattle Dragons host the Dallas Renegades at 5 p.m., ET, on FOX. On Sunday, the St. Louis BattleHawks make their home debut, against the New York Guardians, at 3 p.m., ET, on ESPN and the DC Defenders visit the LA Wildcats at 6 p.m., ET, on FS1.
Voting for the Week 3 XFL Star of the Week finalists will begin at 9:30 PM ET on Tuesday, February 25 at @XFL2020.
