In an homage to Saturday night television in St. Louis, a pair of local sports franchises are teaming up for an inaugural event that combines roller derby and professional wrestling.
Arch Rival Roller Derby, the area’s leading flat-track roller derby franchise, and Dynamo Pro Wrestling, the upper-echelon entrant of the squared-circle sport, presents “JAMS & SLAMS” on Saturday, February 1 at Midwest Sport Hockey at Ballwin’s Queeny Park.
The event begins with an ARCH interleague battle that features the defending champs, the Smashinistas, tangling with the Stunt Devils, a five-time title holder.
Then in the back half of the event, Dynamo Pro Wrestling presents a four-match card that is highlighted by a DPW Women’s Championship match.
“JAMS & SLAMS” marks the first-time that roller derby and professional wrestling has been presented on the same night at the same venue in the St. Louis area and both franchises recognize the relationship and the potential for success.
“Our upcoming event is a unique opportunity to be in front of a completely different fan base,” said Arch Rival President Zombie Firefly. “Also, crossover events like these ultimately help strengthen our communities. This is what it’s like when worlds collide!”
“We’re excited to be a part of this event,” added Dynamo Pro Wrestling owner Jim Yount. “Pro wrestling and roller derby is a great match together that will appeal to fans of both sports.”
The evening’s opener finds the Smashinistas and the Stunt Devils continuing Arch Rival’s competitive regular local season. The pair of squads has been a constant fixture of the League’s 15-year history and the teams collectively scored 383 points at their respective games in January. In short, the offense should be high-octane.
The nightcap features a main event with current DPW Women’s Champion, the “Empress of Evil” Rahne Victoria, putting her title on the line against the diabolical “Barbie Killer” Hayley Shadows. The mat rivals recently had a duel at Concordia Turner’s Hall and Victoria retained the title with a late surge.
Also on the evening, a “Bragging Rights” match takes place between a pair of title holders as current DPW Heavyweight Champion Adrian Surge faces DPW Division 1 Champion Camaro Jackson where neither title is on the line.
Two other matches will also be featured at the all-ages event.
Tickets at the door are $15 while children 10 and under are free. Advance discounted tickets can be purchased online at this link.
