Billikens Host No. 12 Seton Hall on Sunday

by Brian Kunderman

Saint Louis hosts No. 12 Seton Hall at Chaifetz Arena on Sunday afternoon. Game time is slated for 3 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPNU.

The Billikens enter Sunday’s game 3-0 overall after posting wins against Florida Gulf Coast, Valparaiso and Eastern Washington. Junior guard Jordan Goodwin leads the Billikens in scoring (16.0 ppg) and rebounding (8.3 rpg). Junior forward Hasahn French is close behind at 15.3 ppg. Freshman guard Yuri Collins is averaging 8.3 assists per game.

Seton Hall (2-1) was picked to win the BIG EAST Conference. The Pirates are coming off a 76-73 home loss on Thursday to No. 3 Michigan State. Seton Hall guard Myles Powell, widely considered one of the top players in the country, dropped an impressive 37 points in the game.

Here are five facts in advance of Sunday’s game vs. Seton Hall:

1. Saint Louis has a chance on Sunday do something that hasn’t happened at SLU since 1955 – score 80 or more points in each of the first four games of the season. That 1955-56 team, led by legendary head coach Eddie Hickey, surpassed 80 or more points in each of the first nine games of the season.

2. Sunday’s game against Seton Hall will be the ninth game against a ranked foe in the 12-year history of Chaifetz Arena. The Billikens are 4-4 against ranked opponents at Chaifetz Arena. SLU’s last win against a ranked team at Chaifetz was Feb. 19, 2013, a 76-62 victory over No. 24 VCU.

3. Junior forward Hasahn French enters the Seton Hall game second in school history with 130 blocked shots. He needs six more to surpass Ian Vouyoukas’ school record of 135 blocks.

4. Freshman point guard Yuri Collins ranks fifth in the NCAA in assists per game (8.3 apg) and is first among freshmen (through games of Nov. 14).

5. The first 1,500 SLU students at Sunday’s game will receive a free replica jersey. In addition, there are various promotions for SLU student groups that can earn them cash. Information is available on the @SLU_Billikens twitter account.
