Dayton scored a goal in each half to pick up a 2-1 Atlantic 10 Conference men’s soccer victory over Saint Louis on Saturday night at Hermann Stadium.
It was the first A-10 loss of the season for the Billikens, who fall to 9-4 overall and 5-1 in league play. Dayton improves to 8-7 and 3-2 in the A-10.
The Flyers got on the scoreboard early as Kingsford Adjei scored in the seventh minute to make it 1-0. Dayton scored what would eventually be the game-winning goal at the 82:51 mark when Jonas Fjeldberg put one past SLU keeper Patrick Schulte.
SLU junior Ben Huels scored a goal in the 89th minute, his third of the season, to pull SLU to within one, but Dayton held on for the 2-1 victory.
Saint Louis is back in action on Tuesday when it heads to Charlottesville, Virginia, to take on Virginia. The Cavaliers are ranked No. 1 in this week’s United Soccer Coaches poll, but they are coming off a 2-0 home loss against Pittsburgh.
