RECAP
Saint Louis kept its Atlantic 10 Conference record perfect with a 2-0 victory at Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon. David Viox and Simon Becher scored for the Billikens.
SLU moves to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in the league, while UMass dips to 4-6 and 0-2 in the conference play.
Viox opened the scoring in the 39th minute. In the middle of the field, Leo Novaes found Becher who carried the ball to near the top of the box. Becher sent a pass out wide to Viox, who banged the ball in off the crossbar for the eventual game-winner.
Becher scored an insurance goal with 20 minutes remaining. Novaes again started the scoring play, beating a defender on the left side and sending a ball to the top of the six-yard box that Becher tapped in with his right foot.
The stout Billiken defense yielded just six UMass shots, and none of them found the frame. Patrick Schulte earned the shutout in goal, his third in league play.
Saint Louis continues A-10 play on Wednesday night when it hosts George Mason at Hermann Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m.
