At Wednesday’s All-Star Game festivities, MLS Commissioner Don Garber told media, “We are in very advanced discussions in St. Louis, and we really appreciated the details that they provided. We look forward to continuing those discussions in the weeks and months ahead.”
Representatives from 8 different potential MLS expansion markets were in attendance on Wednesday, but the focus remained on the leaders in the race toward 30 teams: St. Louis, Sacramento and Charlotte.

Garber didn’t give a timeline for when the final decision would be made, but he did stay if St. Louis was chosen, they would probably start in the 2022 season.
