NHL reveals home openers for 2019-20 season

The St. Louis Blues will begin defense of their Stanley Cup championship against the Washington Capitals at Enterprise Center on Oct. 2, the first night of the 2019-20 NHL season.

There will be three other games that night: The Toronto Maple Leafs will host the Ottawa Senators, the Edmonton Oilers will host the Vancouver Canucks and the Vegas Golden Knights will host the San Jose Sharks in a rematch of their first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series.

The Eastern Conference-champion Boston Bruins, who lost to the Blues in seven games in the Stanley Cup Final, will begin their season on the road. They play their home opener against the New Jersey Devils at TD Garden on Oct. 12.

The full 1,271-game schedule will be unveiled on NHL Network on Tuesday (noon ET) during “NHL Tonight: 2019-20 Schedule Release,” hosted by Jamison Coyle and analysts E.J. Hradek and Mike Johnson. The 30-minute program also will be streamed live on NHL.com and SiriusXM NHL Network Radio
