Billikens Score 17 in Win over GMU

Saint Louis (23-25, 11-9) defeated George Mason (19-31, 5-14) 17-3 on Saturday afternoon.

The Billikens scored one in the second, one in the fourth, eight in the fifth, two in the sixth and five in the seventh in their route over the Patriots.

Cody Luther cruised to his seventh win of the season, throwing 6.0 innings, allowing one run on three hits and striking out seven. He threw only 71 pitches but exited with a 12-1 lead.

Cole Dubet smacked four hits on the afternoon, including two doubles. He finished 4-6 with four RBIs and three runs scored.

Jake Garella tied SLU’s season doubles record, hitting numbers 20 and 21 on the year. He finished 2-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Senior Griffin Robinson drilled his first home run of the season over the left field wall in the sixth inning. He ended the game reaching base three times, going 2-2 with a walk, three RBIs and scoring two himself.

Braxton Stowe and Cam Redding both also turned in two-hit games. Stowe finished 2-3 with three RBIs and two runs. Redding wrapped up the afternoon 2-3 with one RBI and one run scored.

The Billikens will go for the sweep of the Patriots at noon on Sunday. They’ll celebrate their seniors with a pregame ceremony on the field, beginning about 11:30 a.m.
