St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General ManagerDoug Armstrong announced today the Blues have acquired defenseman Michael Del Zotto from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2019 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft. In addition, the Blues assigned forward Sammy Blais(BLAY), defenseman Chris Butler and forward Jordan Kyrou (KIGH-roo) to the club’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage. Armstrong will address the media tomorrow morning, at 10 a.m., outside the Blues locker room at Enterprise Center.
Del Zotto, 28, has split this season between the Vancouver Canucks and the Ducks. The 6’0, 201-pound defenseman collected four points (one goal, three assists) in 23 games with the Canucks while he posted three assists in 12 appearances with the Ducks.
Originally drafted 20th overall by the New York Rangers in 2008, Del Zotto is a veteran of nine NHL seasons, including stints with the Rangers, Nashville Predators, Philadelphia Flyers, Canucks and Ducks. In 601 career regular-season games, the Stouffville, Ontario, native has accumulated 218 points (54 goals, 164 assists) and 258 penalty minutes. Del Zotto has also produced 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in 32 career postseason appearances.
