Blues Recall Sanford; Assign Kostin To WJC

St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the Blues have recalled forward Zach Sanford from the club’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.  In addition, the Blues assigned forward Klim Kostin (KLIHM, KAW-stihn) to Team Russia for the 2019 World Junior Championship.

Sanford, 24, has appeared in 23 games with the Blues this season, tallying nine points (four goals, five assists) and 13 penalty minutes.  The 6’4, 207-pound forward has also dressed in five games with the Rampage, posting four points (three goals, one assist) and two penalty minutes.  Overall, the Salem, Massachusetts, native has played in 62 career National Hockey League (NHL) regular-season games, recording 17 points (eight goals, nine assists) and 23 penalty minutes.

 Kostin, 19, has dressed in 28 games with the Rampage this season, collecting 11 points (five goals, six assists) and 48 penalty minutes.  The 6’3, 212-pound forward will be making his third appearance for Team Russia at a World Junior Championship.  In 2016, he tallied four assists in five games as team captain at the U-18 World Junior Championship.  In 2018, he was named a “Top Three Player On The Team,” after logging eight points (five goals, three assists) in five tournament games at the U-20 World Junior Championship.  A native of Penza, Russia, Kostin was originally drafted by the Blues in the first round, 31stoverall, of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
