SLU’s Lennart Hein Invited to MLS Combine

by Brian Kunderman

Saint Louis senior defender Lennart Hein (Hamburg, Germany) is one of 60 players from universities in the United States and Canada invited to the 2019 Major League Soccer combine.

The combine takes place Jan. 3-9 at Orlando City Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Hein will have the opportunity to train and play in scrimmages in front of all Major League Soccer teams in advance of the MLS SuperDraft, set for Jan. 11 in Chicago.

Hein appeared in 65 games during his Billiken career. Offensively, he registered six goals and five assists for 17 points. Hein led the Billikens with five tallies in the 2017 campaign.

Hein is a two-time first-team All-Conference defender. In addition, he was named first-team All-Region by the United Soccer Coaches in 2018.

Hein was nominated as one of 30 collegiate players this year as a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award, which awards seniors for their success both on and off the field. Hein, who graduated from SLU in December with a business degree, is also a two-time Academic All-Conference team selection.

Saint Louis University has a strong tradition of sending its players to Major League Soccer. Since 1996, a total of 27 Billikens have been drafted into Major League Soccer.
