St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrongannounced today the Blues have sent defenseman Carl Gunnarsson to the club’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage, on a conditioning assignment. In addition, Armstrong announced that the Blues have activated forward Oskar Sundqvist from injured reserve (IR).
Gunnarsson, 31, is currently in his fifth season with the Blues. Overall, the 6’2, 200-pound defenseman has dressed in 556 career National Hockey League (NHL) regular-season games, tallying 122 points (25 goals, 97 assists) and 151 penalty minutes. The Orebro, Sweden, native was originally acquired by the Blues via trade from the Toronto Maple Leafs on June 28, 2014.
Sundqvist, 24, is expected to make his 2018-19 season debut when the Blues host the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight. The 6’3, 208-pound forward was originally acquired by the Blues via trade from the Pittsburgh Penguins on June 23, 2017. Overall, the Boden, Sweden, native has appeared in 70 career NHL regular-season games between Pittsburgh and St. Louis, recording nine points (two goals, seven assists) and 20 penalty minutes.
