by Ryne Buchanan

EVANSVILLE, IN–The River City Rascals saw their six-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday night at Bosse Field, dropping the middle game of the series to the Evansville Otters by a score of 3-1. The Rascals would record just one hit on the game, a bunt single by Gage West in the sixth inning. Otters starter Ty Hensley did not allow a hit in a no-decision.

The Otters struck first, getting a bases loaded walk from Travis Harrison in the third to take the 1-0 lead. The Rascals tied the game on four consecutive walks with one out in the fifth inning, including one to JD Hearn with the bases loaded. However, reliever Tyler Vail (3-4) came on to retire the side with the game still tied.

The Otters scored two in the fifth, on an RBI single to right by Harrison and a sacrifice fly by Jeff Gardner to take the 3-1 lead.

Hector Hernandez (10-6) took the loss for the Rascals, allowing three runs in six innings. Hensley finished allowing the one run over 4 1/3, walking six and striking out five without surrenduring a hit. Vail pitched the final 4 2/3 innings to earn the win, allowing just the single to West and a walk to Braxton Martinez in the top of the ninth, while recording five strikeouts on the night.

The Rascals (47-42) and Otters (46-43) play the rubbermatch of their series tomorrow afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 2:05 pm CT. Jonny Ortiz will make the start for the Rascals.
