Coming into the offseason one of the main concerns with the Cardinals was the closer position. It seems as though the problem has been solved. In a shocking turn of events Greg Holland seems to be joining the club according to multiple sources. Jon Heyman was the first to report.

The #STLCards get a steal grabbing Greg Holland for one year deal at $14 million as Holland market plummeted after collapsed early talks with #Rockies
His asking price throughout the offseason was considered relatively high and he had offers early on. He reportedly turned down a 3 YR deal worth $52M. This gives the Cardinals a proven closer at a great discounted rate. This added on to their early steps to shape the bullpen have turned this pitching staff into one of the best in baseball in my opinion. Personally I’ve have been saying all off-season that Holland would be a great fit, but I was content with trying a “closer by committee” approach after seeing who we brought in (Leone, Gregerson).
It certainly shocked me to learn the news but it also got me pretty amped up for what could be in store this season. Go Cards!!!
