The National Hockey League (NHL) announced today that Blues goaltender Jake Allen has been named Second Star for the week ending Mar. 25.  Edmonton forward Connor McDavid and Winnipeg forward Kyle Connor were named first and third star, respectively.

Allen, 27, went 3-0-0 last week, helping the Blues vault back into the second Wild Card position in the Western Conference standings.  The 6’2, 203-pound goaltender allowed just three goals on 76 total shots last week, logging a 2-1 win over Boston on Wednesday, a 4-1 win over Vancouver on Friday and a 2-1 win over Columbus on Saturday.  Among goalies that made multiple starts last week, Allen ranked second in goals-against average (1.00) and third in save percentage (.961).

Since the beginning of March, the Fredericton, New Brunswick, native shares second overall with seven wins (7-2-0) while he shares third in goals-against average (2.00) and ranks 14th in save percentage (.926) (min. five starts).  Allen, currently in his fifth NHL season, was originally drafted by the Blues in the second round (34th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.  In franchise history, he ranks third in wins (116) and shutouts (16), 8th in save percentage (.913) and 10th in goals-against average (min. 25 games played).
