Saint Louis FC scored early to take a 0-1 lead over San Antonio FC, but couldn’t hang on as San Antonio came from behind to win the match 2-1.

Saint Louis came out firing early as it grabbed an early lead in the 2nd minute off a header from Kyle Greig. Greig continued to help keep up the pressure for Saint Louis as he almost found the back of the net again in the 16th minute off a pass from Corey Hertzog, but the San Antonio keeper, Diego Restrepo, made the save.

Shortly after Mikey Lopez would tie the game at 1-1 in the 22nd minute by heading the ball just out of reach of Saint Louis keeper Jake Fenlason. San Antonio and Saint Louis would play even the rest of the first half after a scoring chance by Hertzog shot the ball over the cross bar just before half time.

Saint Louis came out firing just three minutes into the second half as Hertzog received a cross from Jonathon Braden and missed just wide of the net. San Antonio would capitalize on the Saint Louis’ missed opportunities and would take a 2-1 in the 60th minute. The goal was scored as Lopez would find Kris Tyrpak as he headed it past Fenlason to secure the game for San Antonio.  Saint Louis would find another opportunity to score in the 67th minute, but was turned away by Restrepo to ice the game.

Saint Louis will come home from the Texas road trip with a record of 0-1-1 and falls to 14th place in the western conference. San Antonio will begin the year at 1-1-0 and find themselves in seventh place in the western conference after the first two games of the year.
