Saint Louis University head women’s basketball coach Lisa Stone has been selected to speak at the USA Basketball Chicago Coach Academy, presented by Nike, May 19-20 at Chicago’s Lane Technical College Prep High School.
USA Basketball coach academies provide valuable insight and education to coaches and administrators of basketball. Academy sessions impart to coaches of all levels the USA Basketball curriculum for a proper skill development path to teach basketball to children of all ages and ability levels. Guest speakers deliver on- and off-court sessions on basketball and leadership topics.
Stone recently completed her sixth season at Saint Louis and her 32nd career campaign. She owns a 610-323 career record, and her 107-86 mark at SLU includes a 68-33 ledger over the past three seasons. Stone has led 21 of her teams to postseason play and has earned eight conference Coach of the Year awards.
Stone has guided the Billikens to three consecutive WNIT appearances. Her 2015-16 team enjoyed the best season in program history, posting a school-record 26 wins (26-8), claiming a share of the program’s first-ever conference title and reaching the WNIT third round. Stone was selected the 2015-16 Atlantic 10 Conference Coach of the Year.
USA Basketball is the national governing body for basketball in the United States. As the recognized governing body for U.S. basketball by the International Basketball Federation and the United States Olympic Committee, USA Basketball is responsible for the selection, training and fielding of USA national teams that compete in FIBA-sponsored international competitions, as well as for some national competitions and for the development of youth basketball.
