St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that defenseman Jay Bouwmeester will miss the remainder of the season with a left-hip injury. Overall, Bouwmeester will be sidelined for four to six months. In addition, Armstrong announced that forward Scottie Upshall will be re-evaluated in four weeks after suffering a left-MCL sprain during the Blues game against the Dallas Stars last Saturday. Armstrong will address the media this morning, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Louis Mills.
Bouwmeester, 34, has dressed in 35 games this season, posting seven points (two goals, five assists) and 16 penalty minutes. The 6’4, 206-pound defenseman is currently in his sixth season in St. Louis after the Blues acquired him via trade from the Calgary Flames on Apr. 1, 2013. Overall, the Edmonton, Alberta, native has appeared in 1,106 career NHL regular season games, recording 398 points (84 goals, 314 assists) and 575 penalty minutes.
Upshall, 34, has dressed in 61 games this season, tallying 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) and 46 penalty minutes. Overall, the 6’0, 200-pound forward has appeared in 757 career NHL regular season games, accumulating 284 points (138 goals, 146 assists) and 615 penalty minutes. Currently in his third season in St. Louis, the Fort McMurray, Alberta, native was originally signed by the Blues as a free agent on Oct. 5, 2015.
