THE BASICS
• Tara Dusharm scored a career-high 16 points as part of a 38-point Saint Louis bench effort, but Duquesne claimed a 76-66 Atlantic 10 Conference victory over the Billikens Wednesday night at Chaifetz Arena.
• The Billikens slipped to 14-12 overall and 8-5 in the A-10. Duquesne improved to 21-5, 11-2.
FIRST QUARTER
• Saint Louis’ only lead of the contest came when Paige Rakers buried the first of her four 3-pointers to put the Billikens on top 5-4.
• Duquesne took the upper hand for good on its next possession and went on to build a seven-point margin before settling for a 22-17 lead at the end of the quarter.
SECOND QUARTER
• The Dukes opened with a 9-0 run over the first 2:12 to make it a 31-17 game.
• The Billikens answered with a 15-6 run to end the quarter. Four different players scored during the spurt, led by Aaliyah Covington’s five points, and SLU trailed 37-32 at intermission.
THIRD QUARTER
• Saint Louis fell behind by 11 points early in the period but cut the deficit to seven after Rakers canned a 3-pointer and notched a traditional three-point play on consecutive possessions.
• A 9-0 Duquesne flurry put the Dukes ahead 54-38, and they expanded the cushion to 61-42 at the end of three.
FOURTH QUARTER
• Duquesne led 66-44 when Saint Louis made a charge with a 13-0 spurt. Dusharm scored six points and Kerri McMahan added five during the run, which narrowed the gap to 66-57 with 3:53 to play.
• The Dukes scored eight of the next 10 points to move in front 74-59 at the 1:52 mark, but the Billikens made one more push.
• Dusharm and Covington combined for the next seven points to slice the Duquesne lead to 74-66 with 54 seconds remaining, but the Billikens drew no closer.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Dusharm was 6-of-9 from the floor and 4-of-4 from the foul line, scoring her 16 points in just 11 minutes of action.
• Rakers tallied 15 points.
• McMahan (5-of-9 FG) finished with 12 points and a game-high-tying six assists, her season high.
• Covington scored 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting.
• Maddison Gits grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds (game-high four offensive), her 13th double-digit total of the season and seventh in the last eight games.

UP NEXT
The Billikens host George Washington Saturday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. in a rematch of a game played Jan. 27 in Washington, D.C. In that contest, Saint Louis rallied from an 11-point deficit and won 72-69 when Jackie Kemph sank a running 3-pointer at the buzzer in overtime.
