St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has acquired forward Nikita Soshnikov (nih-KEE-tuh, SOHSH-nih-kawf) from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for the Blues’ fourth round draft pick in 2019. Soshnikov will report to St. Louis in 7-10 days after he has attained a United States visa.
Soshnikov, 24, is currently on injured reserve (IR) but will be added to the active roster after he attains his visa and is cleared to play by team doctors. This season, the 5’11, 185-pound forward has posted 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists) in 19 games with the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Toronto Marlies while also dressing in three games for the Maple Leafs. Overall, the Nizhny Tagil, Russia, native has appeared in 70 career NHL regular season games, recording 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) and 22 penalty minutes.
