When will the Jaskin experiment end? I find it hard to believe that the blues do not have any better players than Jaskin in the system.
The most goals Jaskin has scored in a season is 13 back in 2014-2015 but only had 5 assist for a total of 18 points (career high).
Since then Jaskin hasn’t scored more than 5 goals in a season and only had 1 goal in 2016-2017. It would be understandable if he hasn’t had his fair share of chances to grab a top 6 spot, but he has.
This season he has played with Brayden Schenn and Stastny and still can’t seem to find a permanent spot on the top 6. In 242 games Jaskin only has 24 goals and 33 assist. The second round pick by the Blues hasn’t progressed to what he should have. Back in juniors for the Moncton Wildcats, Jaskin had 46 goals and 99 points in only 51 games.
It could be Jaskin never really had a chance to find his game in the AHL like recent prospects have. I can say that the Blues have better players in the system that would be a better option than Jaskin.
Could Beau Bennett get another chance in the NHL? He hasn’t had the best season in the AHL, but he didn’t really get a decent chance in the NHL. Another option could be Wade Megan, the former scoring champ of the AHL should get another shot in the NHL.
The 24 year old Jaskin has showed signs of greatness with highlight real goal in Detroit and showing signs of being a good power forward but his skating still needs a major improvement and his hockey IQ doesn’t seem high enough for the NHL.
should this be the end of Dmitrij Jaskin?
