Zach Sanford is starting contact drills at practice on Monday. What would the lineup look like with Sanford back in play?
First question is….who comes out of the lineup? Well in my opinion your top 6 is pretty much set unless you make a trade so I would think Sanford fills in the bottom 6 of the lineup. He may even get a look on that second line with Schwartz and Schenn.
The bottom 6 of the lineup as of today looks like this Jaskin-Sobotka-Barbashev with Thompson filling in one of those spots when he is healthy. Would Thompson still get the minutes when Sanford comes back? I would think he has played well enough to earn him a spot when he gets healthy.
The fourth line could look a little different, maybe Jaskin fills in that role next to Brodziak and Upshall. If I had to choose Sanford would fill in that third line spot with Sobotka.
We will see how well he can play coming off a long recovery process. If he can come in and produce I would imagine he would stay in the lineup, but if he slumps I think the blues make a trade for some depth scoring and he might be the odd man out.
