A LOOK AT THE BILLIKENS
• Coming off its most productive offensive outing of the season, Saint Louis concludes the nonconference portion of its schedule Tuesday, Dec. 19, against Tulsa of the American Athletic Conference.
• The Billikens scored a season-high 101 points and surpassed or tied season bests in nine additional categories in a 101-57 drubbing of Lipscomb Sunday afternoon.
• Tulsa earned an impressive victory in its last outing, winning 64-61 at South Dakota on Saturday.
• Jackie Kemph leads SLU in scoring (14.4 ppg), assists (7.6 apg), assist-turnover ratio (2.46), free throws made (52), free throw attempts (65) and minutes (37.3 mpg). Kemph has scored in double figures in all but two games and has made 25 of her last 29 free throws.
• A two-time A-10 Player of the Year, Kemph owns SLU’s career assists record (752). She is No. 2 in points (1,553, needs 33 for the record) and free throws made (384, needs 23 for the record) on the Bills’ career lists. Kemph has started every game of her collegiate career.
• Maddison Gits leads SLU in rebounding (8.6 rpg) and is the team’s No. 2 scorer (10.3 ppg). Gits’ team-high .581 field goal shooting mark includes 27-of-35 (.771) over the last five games; she was 8-of-8 vs. Lipscomb, 6-of-7 vs. Missouri and 8-of-9 vs. Vanderbilt. She has shot at least 50 percent in eight games and has been one basket shy of the 50-percent mark four times.
• After averaging 5.6 rebounds in the first five games, Jenny Vliet owns a 9.0 average over the last seven outings. Vliet leads SLU in offensive rebounding (2.5 orpg), is second in total rebounding (7.6 rpg) and ranks third in scoring (9.0 ppg). She co-owns the team lead in steals (15) and is second in 3-pointers (18). Vliet is 7-of-16 (.438) from the arc over the last four games.
• Aaliyah Covington is close behind Vliet with 8.9 points per game. Covington has at least one 3-point field goal in eight of the last nine games and is SLU’s leader in free throw percentage (.813).
• Jordyn Frantz carries an 8.1 scoring average and leads the team in 3-pointers (20) and 3-point field goal percentage (.377). Frantz is tied for the team lead in steals (15) and is second in assists (2.8 apg) and assist-turnover ratio (2.20).
• Tara Dusharm averaged 10 points and seven rebounds in recent outings at Washington State and at Missouri.
• Sixth-year head coach Lisa Stone takes a 95-77 record at Saint Louis into the Tulsa game. Now in her 32nd season overall as a collegiate head coach, Stone owns a 598-314 career mark.
A LOOK AT THE GOLDEN HURRICANE
• Tulsa, which has won two of its last three games, returned four starters and six additional letter winners from last year’s team that finished 10-21 overall and 5-11 (ninth) in the American Athletic Conference.
• A common opponent of Saint Louis and Tulsa is Little Rock. The Billikens defeated the Trojans 48-45, while the Golden Hurricane prevailed 74-61.
• Among the returning players are two 2017 AAC All-Freshman selections, guard Shug Dickson and forward Kendrian Elliott. Dickson leads Tulsa in scoring (12.6 ppg) and free throw percentage (.889), while Elliott averages 8.6 points and a team-high 8.0 rebounds.
• Junior forward Crystal Polk and sophomore guard Alexis Gaulden average 9.4 and 8.7 points, respectively. Polk snares 6.2 rebounds per game.
