St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has activated goaltender Carter Hutton from injured reserve (IR). In addition, the Blues placed defenseman Jay Bouwmeester (BOW-mee-stuhr) on IR, recalled forward Sammy Blais (BLAY) from the American Hockey League’s (AHL) San Antonio Rampage and assigned goaltender Jordan Binnington to the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Providence Bruins.
Hutton, 31, has appeared in eight games for the Blues this season, posting a 4-2-0 record along with a 1.88 goals-against average and a .937 save percentage. The 6’1, 202-pound goaltender was originally signed by the Blues as a free agent on July 1, 2016.
Bouwmeester, 34, has dressed in 10 games for the Blues this season, posting a goal and an assist. The 6’4, 206-pound defenseman is currently in his sixth season with the Blues after the team acquired him via trade on Apr. 1, 2013. Overall, the Edmonton, Alberta, native has appeared in 1,081 career regular season games, recording 393 points (83 goals, 310 assists) and 559 penalty minutes.
Blais, 21, has dressed in nine games for the Blues this season, posting one goal and two assists. The 6’2, 205-pound forward has also appeared in 11 games for the Rampage, recording 13 points (five goals, eight assists). The Montmagny, Quebec, native was originally drafted by the Blues in the sixth round, 176th overall, of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Binnington, 24, has posted a 6-1-0 record and ranks second in the AHL overall with a 1.84 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage in eight games with the Bruins this season. The Richmond Hill, Ontario, native was originally drafted by the Blues in the third round, 88th overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
