THE BASICS
• Saint Louis outscored Little Rock 20-6 over the last 10:09 of the game and posted a 48-45 victory over the Trojans Friday night at Chaifetz Arena.
• The Billikens snapped a two-game skid and improved to 4-5. Little Rock fell to 2-4.
• Saint Louis trailed 39-28 when Jenny Vliet buried a 3-pointer with nine seconds left in the third quarter, making it an eight-point game heading into the final stanza.
• The Billikens tied it three times in the fourth quarter before Jackie Kemph backed her defender down into the lane and tossed in what proved to be the game-winning bucket with 18 seconds left.
• SLU forced a turnover on Little Rock’s next possession, and a Jordyn Frantz free throw accounted for the final score.
FIRST QUARTER
• The teams combined to shoot 22 percent from the field in the opening quarter, which ended with Little Rock leading 8-6.
SECOND QUARTER
• There were five ties in the second quarter, and neither team led by more than two points until the Trojans went on top 21-17 with 1:45 left.
• It was 22-17 when Kemph buried a 3-pointer at the buzzer to trim the Little Rock advantage to a field goal at intermission.
THIRD QUARTER
• Vliet netted a trey on SLU’s first possession, but Little Rock soon regained the upper hand and remained in front the rest of the quarter.
• A 9-0 run gave the Trojans the first of two 11-point cushions before Vliet’s late triple made it a single-digit game.
FOURTH QUARTER
• The Billikens held Little Rock without a field goal for almost six minutes while slowly chipping away.
• Two free throws by Frantz knotted the score at 42, and it was 43-all after the teams exchanged free throws.
• Kerri McMahan’s go-ahead layup was answered by Little Rock’s Raeyana DeGray, tying the game at 45 with 47 seconds to play.
• Following a timeout, Kemph put Saint Louis ahead to stay with her dramatic bucket, and the Billiken defense did the rest.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• The Billikens recorded a significant advantage from the foul line. SLU was 14-of-18 (78 percent) from the stripe, while Little Rock was just 7-of-15 (47 percent).
• Maddison Gits (10 points, 11 rebounds) registered her third double-double and fourth double-digit rebound total of the season.
• Kemph had team highs of 11 points and four assists.
• Vliet finished with 11 rebounds (four offensive) – giving her 40 boards over the last four games – to go with seven points and three assists.
