MEMPHIS, Tennessee – The New Orleans Baby Cakes (Marlins) pounded out 18 hits in a 10-3 win over the Memphis Redbirds Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park.
The loss snapped Memphis’ (50-32) four-game winning streak. Prior to today, New Orleans (30-52) had only scored two runs total in the first two games of the series.
Wilfredo Tovar and Harrison Bader homered for Memphis, and each had two hits. Adolis Garcia also had a pair of knocks for the Redbirds. The Baby Cakes were led by Christian Colon’s 4-for-5 contest.
Bader’s home run was his 14th of the season, and he had 19 between Memphis and Double-A Springfield last season. John Gant took the loss after allowing four runs, three earned, in 5.0 innings of work. He struck out six and walked one.
Each team committed three errors in the contest.
The Redbirds and Baby Cakes conclude their series tomorrow night at 6:35.
