This Saturday, the St. Louis SLAM women’s tackle football franchise aims to continue a newfound benchmark in their 14-year history that was launched last week, a double-digit win streak.
The SLAM (4-0) hosts the Kansas City Titans (2-2) at the team’s newest Gateway City proper venue, St. Mary’s High School (4701 South Grand, St. Louis, MO). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Saturday’s meeting is a re-match of a Show-Me State battle held in late-April that saw the SLAM post a 34-6 road victory and collect their tenth straight turf triumph in the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA).
St. Louis was scheduled to host Nebraska this past Saturday but received a forfeit victory that kept their current record unblemished and extended an undefeated streak that dates back to April 30, 2016.
The SLAM, the defending WFA Tier II Division national champions, are currently competing at levels that give glimpses of a potential post-season repeat appearance. Paced by an offense that has outscored their opposition 120-12 in their first three games, running backs Taylor Hay, Mary Altepeter and Tawna Rodriguez are propelling the ground attack while receivers Kaylee Neutzling, Kim Kinsella, Danielle Price, Keyonna Smith and Chelsea Clay are snaring six-point passes from quarterback Jaime Gaal.
St. Louis’ defense, who has only allowed a pair of touchdowns so far this season, is anchored by Tiffany Pugh, Raven Williams, Jelani Kelly, Robyn Morrow, Pamela Green, Brooklyn Bastain and a host of others.
The Titans look to avenge the April 22 setback and snap their current two-game slide. Following the loss to the SLAM, Kansas City fell to the Minnesota Vixens (4-1) the ensuing weekend.
Rookie quarterback Brooke Liebsch is a top-tier athlete that has improved as the season has progressed. Running backs Brittany Williams, Morgan Rauker and Krishna Lee each have multiple touchdown romps this season.
Admission at the gate for Saturday’s showdown is $13 while children 10 and under are free with an accompanying adult.
